[Micah Altman](/people/micah-altman), collaborator on the Privacy Tools for Sharing Research Data project, gave a presentation on "[Connecting Research, Publications, and Evidence: The Lifecycle and Institutional Ecology of Data](http://sites.nationalacademies.org/DBASSE/DBASSE_083053#.UcstiT7TVne)" at the NAS workshop "[Public Access to Federally-Supported Research and Development Data and Publications](http://sites.nationalacademies.org/DBASSE/CurrentProjects/DBASSE_082378#.UcssAD7TVne)" on May 16-17, 2013.

Micah and the rest of the Privacy Tools team have also had their privacy recommendations included in the recent [Data-PASS comments](http://data-pass.org/statements-response-nrc-public-comment-meeting-public-access-federally-supported-rd-data) on the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP) [memo](http://www.whitehouse.gov/sites/default/files/microsites/ostp/ostp_public_access_memo_2013.pdf) that aims to increase access to the results of publicly funded research through open access.
